Really all I have is the wires. Once I get the bed off this week, I'm getting the last wires from the fuel tank. Then off the truck goes, then I'll have to get a new cab, bed, and frame. I've gotten in the groove again now that I've stopped being so negative. I'm gonna have to call the dmv soon to see what I need to do about the vin.

Update later today. I think I'm gonna keep the videos going for a while, it's easier that way and if I type a lot on my phone the site freezes...idk what's going on there.

Got all the wires bagged and tagged, in a plastic tote. Cleaned up my little space, but that's about it

Nobody makes the front stone deflector for the first gen Ranger. It differs between 1983-1988 and then 1988-92. LMC truck makes every single other part, except for the one part that I absolutely have to have to make a 1988+ first gen Ranger look like a 1983-88.

It's the piece of metal right above the bumper and below the grille, the lights are attached to it.

The one on mine is messed up pretty bad.

I have a spare for my truck, maybe a good idea to get another
It is called the "lower valance" or "stone guard"
time to check the internet

I love those early mirrors! They have a different shape then my 88's

I looked on LMC truck, they have every other part except for that one. I'll keep looking, if all else fails it's time for me to learn metal body work and fix it. That's always a good skill to have.

Might be no need, I got the old one out and it's not rusted through. Eventually I'm going to get some evapo-rust and soak the pedal assembly and this in it and see how it comes out. The cluster is rusted bad too, may soak that and clean up the gauge faces.

Called the DMV with questions about how to legally do a cab swap but apparently all the laws changed in January....great. First tings first, I'm applying for a title and if I don't have sufficient evidence of ownership then I can apply for a bonded title. I'm doing that this week or next since the DMV and Tax Office close the same time I get off work and can only call during lunch.

Can't decide on color scheme. First is the choice/combo number then to the right is exterior color, under the number is the wheel, then bottom right is interior.

#1 I like this combo. The light blue exterior and the chrome wheels remind me of an old classic car, clean but sorta flashy. I love the brown for the interior.

#2 I also like this look. More modern, less flashy. Would look mean going down the road. Also, love the brown interior here too.

The decision for this will help push the project in a different way

I like the blue. Also I am not a big fan of Cragar wheels.

Crager had pealing chrome issue in the 80's. I had 2 out of 4 that had the pealing in less than a year. Crager weaseled out of the warranty.  I carried all 4 wheels with me on a military exercise at Ft. Bliss. I was part of the Advance Team and I carried them across the border where they were stripped, trued, and black chromed. They even machined the center cap with the Ford oval logo and painted the oval Ford blue. They did this for about the price of a new Crager including the two days of a rent-a-wreck car rental (which was actually more than what the wheel work cost). When I sold the truck in 05 the wheels still looked new. It was a 78 F100 Ranger 400M 4-speed, 4:11 posi rear/spool front, with a factory 3"lift on the Crager 15x10 with 35's.

Anytime I get bent over by a company I tend to never do business with them again.  Other brands I will never buy again are Uniroyal tires, Dodge trucks, Mini Cooper (or anything English), and a few others that allude me at the moment.

Blue for sure. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of silver/grey on vehicles. They all look very meh. that blue with chrome would look awesome.

Yeah I love the blue/chrome, but it'll stick out like a sore thumb lol. That was the original color scheme I wanted, but I saw this really mean lookin mustang the other day with the grey and black. I loved it as well.

Fords should be blue - My first ford truck, a 1970 F100 I rebuilt at 14 with my brother.

This was 15 years after we painted it in the farm driveway... It was a farm truck and used hard for 45 years in the family. my grandpa bought it new, gave it to my brother and I when my brother turned 18. Finally sold it when my parents sold the last animal and we didn't need to haul hay anymore.

Still waiting for them to approve or deny my request for a title. In the mean time I've been searching for frames to swap onto, junkyards want 6-800 just for the frame and nothing else. I stumbled upon a post on Craigslist of a guy parting out a 2000 ranger single cab short bed, he only wants 200 for the frame AND ALL the Suspension parts. I'll be picking that up on the 5th of December. Any tips for removing a cab and bed out in the field with no access to power and basic hand tools? Lol

yes! Can you get a torch? How about a battery powered sawzall?

I can probably get one of those little blue torches, I'll look at harbor freight for a sawzall. I looked up a bunch of videos of removing cab mounts, apparently you gotta make a little bushing press with 3” pipe and some washers to pull the bottom bushing out, I'm going to autozone this weekend to get some exhaust tubing, Home Depot is right down the road from it so I'll swing by there too.

Edit: also, it seems to be the bottom side of the bushing that's the issue. If I remove the bolt I could still pull the cab, correct? Even with the bottom part of the bushing in?
