I'm putting a new cat back dual exhaust on my truck. My previous set up was dual rails behind the tires. I need you guys to help me decide my tail pipes. Out the sides behind the tires or out the back? If out the back I have 4" ss rolled edge tips 20" long. My old set up was angled quad tops behind the tires. If behind the tires I would reuse my old tips. And of course it be done with a single inlet dual outlet Flowmaster.

NoPower has a catback system from Gibson. The tail I went with was out the side behind rear tires. Pix in Gallery.

When I replaced the cat back exhaust system on my 2000 Ranger I stayed with a single JBA system turned behind the tire like stock. If I was to do a dual system I would do the tail pipes out behind the rear tires like NoPower.

that looks nice! I can't do that simply because I smash the tailpipes under the back bumper on rocks

Isn't the gas tank in the way for duals. I was waiting for my tires to be rotated and was standing by the muffler shop so I half heartedly asked the guy if they could do it and he said I'd need to relocate the gas tank but I've never checked again. Mine is an 07 sport 4door 4x4

dual system seems unless you're going true dual exhaust, they just dual exit off the muffler. If you're going true dual exhaust for performance reason, then you'll have to double up the mufflers and mirror the pipes going out the back and cross over around the front of the spare. You wouldn't have to move the gas tank, thats absurd unless you were making a Hot rod setup and use a fuel cell/tank.

true duals can be done...its alot of plumbing under a 4x4 ranger that is for sure.

Our v6 and small block Fords do not need true duals!!!!! Single exhaust out = more torque
It is not until you go boosted or make bigger power then a mild 302 or sohc before you need anything larger then a single 2.5" pipe out the back

Now with that said to each their own!! If you want dual pipes out the back have at it, at this point it is just for looks

I was always a believer in a truck is not a truck without dual exhaust. Hell when I was 16 I had an 88 ford festiva convertible 1.3 l of pure lighting and tornado made power that had a cat back dual exhaust with 3" tips. It was a total party dropper

Lmao, sorry it was left wide open for the taking.

I've had many setups on the ranger with the 5.0 . For me routing is easy since I no logger have the stock tank that almost ripped off a few times on speed bumps ,etc ( lowlife 🤦🏻‍♂️Lol ) . When the tank was there . I have had stock manifolds and piping from the explorer modded to fit when first swapped . Then cut out the stock explorer back cats and muffler out and welded up stock 2010 mustang mufflers dumped . Those where heavy as   and kept breaking rubber hangers . Finally bought a really nice “ big boar” dual in dual out 2.5 “ muffler with a built in x pipe . That exhaust setup was my favorite for sound til this day .I swapped and relocated the fuel cell to the back and got tri y headers and 2 40 series flows . decided to tru dual out the both sides in front of the back tires . The tire smoke gets pushed out the sides now because that 😁 . That's my current setup . I plan on swapping out to a perforated design again and cutting the flows off.

I've come to love the blow thru sound of Perforated mufflers . Flows have always sounded good on Fords but chambers I've always seem to blow out 🤦🏻‍♂️.and the sound is not for me truthfully. But I'm a mutt when it comes to modded rides I own and not truly loyal to any make . 💭 I've always lived by anything can be made to go fast so have fun experimenting as long as it's what you want

It was an 86 turbo rotary 5 speed red. Was a bad little car. I bought it for $500 ,clutch was smoked in it. that lil RX7 with a 13B setup would rip.. So light. I'm a huge advocate of the FD more than the 2nd Gens but.. Maybe next year or two I could entertain throwing some cash for a unmolested FD 3rd Gen...

Or just do what I did....cut off the exhaust an inch behind my cab (single cab) with a hack saw and leave it....lol my 4 banger sounds kinda good for a 4 cylinder. Not too loud or "ricey". Here it is revved to about 4,500rpms at a standstill from about 5 feet from passenger side of the truck. It usually does a few backfires too, sounds extra cool to me lol :frd:)

Surprisingly... I've lost the Flow Master muffler, pipe broke right before the muffler itself once.. My truck went from sounding a bit mean to... Ghost mode

I swear to god a Prius almost made more noise than my 4.0L it freaked me out a bit at first.
