To the few guys I have talked to about around my area, all of them had sorta said the same thing, that my style of trans won’t hold up to the power I’ll be running....
Im no Slushmatic guru but... 5r55e Common issues
Looking at the symptoms as T-Square/Ordinary biker sorta pointed out. Power isn't gonna be your issue. Its the related items that make the Trans have issues that cause the problems inherent to it. If you can outfit it with the right Tq converter, upgrade the cooler to a much larger unit and well placed, run a synthetic fluid if possible, replace the shift solenoids before installing it (if easier), refreshing it altogether AND.., realizing your beefing the trans up to do what you want and need it to do and maybe pull double duty as a daily grinder.. DOES NOT mean its gonna do it on a cruise night with all 234 stop light to stop light testicular moments you find in town that night, let alone every night for the next 5-6 years unhitched without an issue.
I'm positive that's not your intent but you wont be the one going back over this thread at a later date that will need a reminder of the obvious perhaps..
Refresh my memory, are you running the SOHC 4.0 in this truck? If so, i'm pretty confident if you make the above remedies your trucks going to handle another 45-80hp typical of a S/C.
If a 3 cyl Geo metro will take a 55 dry shot several times a day for 11 months.. I think with a refresh and a bigger trans cooler.. you got this.. lol
EDIT: Suspension greatly, tire width/grip will also increase or decrease the power getting to the ground. You'd be best to figure that out as you're moving forward and in a final form of the project.
