I've not specifically read up or researched the particular application but; Cast is somewhat prone to cracking at some point. As I posted somewhere else on here about how even stock manifolds get red-hot under even basic aggressive driving and the stress it endures is more than most people understand. The steel tubular headers will/would still got equally hot without the issues of cracking unless there's a stress issue, i.g. Exhaust is hanging more than it should due to bad hangers and putting a stress point in place along the way.

EDIT: How hot is exhaust hot?

Flow characteristics are far better in tube than cast material as well in nearly every situation but PaceSetter headers which ironically only work to add power to 66'-78' Volkswagon Beetles with their crimped  ty ends. The physics doesnt add up to explain how that is or isnt unfortunately.

The better flow will actually improve the shift points to a smoother power feel, MORE than just an exhaust.

so are you saying not to waste money on pace-setter header?

In both a professional and personal capacity.. You would LIKELY lose hp and tq across the power band despite any sharp rise at any one point over stock/peak RPMs.

Sorry, Is that what you were looking at? :twitch:

If you felt like making a valued change, then I could make a personal recommendation to a man in Florida who would custom fab you up something above and beyond worthwhile for your needs to take advantage of any exhaust scavenging or power adder needs..

Travis is a complete gear head on another level.. does amazing work and the power delivery is always on par and more. If I could steal him for my own business purposes I admittedly would do so.

He will likely be doing the turbo exhaust manifold and down pipe work for the Cummins 4BTa I will eventually get to in the new Ranger frame.

I swapped to a steel one on my 2000. It was out of necessity though. I had to remove the cat pipe and the old bolts got stuck in the manifold flange. Drill and drill and broke a tap and said screw this I'll just get another manifold. Nearest junkyard had a 1997 (steel) so I said what the hell I use it.

Had to add an O2 bung to the cat pipe because 97 trucks had the O2 on the cat pipe and not the manifold.
