Only this time I want to do it to last a while since I intend on keeping this truck for a few years.

I know a few of you had suggestions on better than average aftermarket balls and upper arms, so I'm going to research based on the suggestions rather than start fresh.

This one will have a V8 planted in it.

I plan on replacing wheel bearings, upper and lower bj, and shocks all at the same time. I'm cranking the T bars too about an inch.

I have had unusual good luck with the Detroit Axle stuff as some of you know but I don't want my luck to run out on my favorite project.

I really want to stay away from Moog unless there is a specific serial number I need to look for. I can't find the thread where 410 posted his choice for lowers.

1. Mevotech TTX - Best off the shelf BJ avail for our application
2. AC Delco / Raebestos professional grade (gold blue)
3. Spicer / Ford

In that order

Proforged are good I hear I have not had any of these yet.
Moog is trying to fix the bad wrap they got in the 90's when they switched production to mexico and quality went south too, but I hold grudges so it may be a while before I try Moog again.
There was a Canadian company called MAS that looked promising then Dorman swallowed them up... I am still looking for them to come back online. I have MAS rugged duty in my 97 F350 and LOVE THEM.

The Mevotech TTX is a superior ball joint.
They also have upper control arms and tie rod ends that match
Must get TTX not the crappy blue mevotec

So far best price on lowers unless you get a dealer discount:

Mevotech TTX lower ball joints

Rockauto is where I go very good prices for these parts, they take good care of me with returns and such as needed, have predictable shipping, plus I get discounts for buying so many dang parts LOL

We did TTX uppers, lowers and TRE on the 99 limited 104K truck for a customer. Then his son wrecked the truck 900 miles later and I bought it back. This is now the V8 donor for the Sport trac, so I have near new TTX parts downstairs I will be putting in a Ranger project.

I also put TTX joints in our 01 Excursion 7.3 4x4, so far so good!!!

My stepsons V8 Explorer has been running the TTX joints for about a year, so far they have been great.

I contacted Mevotec about a year ago to see if they would be making BJ for my TTB trucks and they have no plans to.

I am happy with the 5-6 sets I have installed
