I have had a squeaking noise from the f/e of my Ranger for a little while now. Since we moved it has not been driven for a couple weeks until the end of last week, & it turns out it is coming from the serpentine belt or the tensioner/idler pulleys. I ordered a new belt & went to change it today & found the tensioner bolt was loose enough to remove without a wrench & one rib of the serpentine belt was gone all the way around the belt. I removed the tensioner & checked it to make sure it was not damaged & the pulley was not making noise. I also checked the idler pulley to make sure it was not making any noise either, they were both OK. I reinstalled the tensioner & tightened it & installed the new serpentine belt & what do you know the noise is gone. Good thing I fixed it now since I go back to work on Monday & do not want any problems even though I am only 15 minutes from home.

Have you ever replaced the Tensioner ?

If not you may want to get it replaced too.

Just thinking out loud, better safe than sorry... it is only 15 minutes to replace, right !

I installed the projector headlights FINALLY !

Wired the headlight, the Halos, and replaced the Parking lights with small LED projector bulbs, (thinking eBay item) !

Wiring went ok, straight forward just time consuming, but when I turned on the headlight and attempted to use the high/low beams... they were backwards.
I know there are a couple of different bulbs used in the Ford Headlights and all it takes is switching wires, which I can ring out and know which is which, BUTT... how do I get the Pins out or the Socket apart to get this done ?

Next get the lights aligned.

Query, anyone that has done this conversion, do the Halos appear too bright at first ?
I haven't connected the Headlight connection to the Halos' connections but I would have thought they would be "Low" power, low light, since I used the low power connection only.

So I have headlights, need alignment, Halos are BRIGHT, still need to attach headlight wire to the Halos.

Also, added three small LED Lights to the top of the Grille... Raptor style but not Raptor Lights, just small round LED Lights that should look OK.
For now the Grille Lights are connected to the Parking Lights, thinking I may change the wiring to a DLR setup (I think there is a kit for that) and add the high powered Halos to that also.

No pics, sorry, I will take some of what is still apart, soon !

"06 Mirrors next on the list, bigger yes but I am not sold on the bigger view idea but they are powered so another wiring job to get out of the way, then I will attempt the powered windows based on a write up "Power Windows Using OEM Parts" or something like that !

The Honey Do List is popping up too, the wife wants the Pipe Style Industrial Shelving in the Office and the Living Room finished.

Well the squeaking noise is gone but there is a growling noise. Turns out the water pump is shot. I can move the fan if I try. Saturday I replaced the water pump.

I found out, thanks to another Ranger Site and one of their Members, who is EXTREMELY knowledgeable in Ranger Wiring, said to use Under-hood Fuse #41.
I will check it out tomorrow, temp will be in the low 80s, so I will set the Grille Lights and the Halos up as DRLs.

Next is finishing the wiring for the new horns, Hella's set of 2 !.
Going to use the original wiring to activate a relay to drive the horn... not sure yet on how loud but they have to be louder than the OEM Set.

It will be back to the Honey-Do List for the next project... Office Pipe Shelving, I have the Pipe, been waiting for wood prices to drop but I now need to get it done !

Thanks for reading !

Got Fuse #41 wired to a relay.
Will wire the Grille Lights and the High-Halo wire to the other side.

Friend came in form MA, almost shut down for a while... too many things to do with both the Lighting and the Friends.
Power wire and ground left on the rely and I will have DRLs.

Things may change for the DRL Circuit.

Thinking to use Fuse F1-31, it is the actual DRL Circuit.

I will test it out tomorrow after the guests leave.

Thx to 12o NI.

I took this Site advice and changed the circuit to activate my DRL Circuit.F1-31 is the DRL Fuse in the Battery Fuse Box (BFB) which linked to a fuse in the Cab Fuse Box (CFB)  F2-2.
F2-2 is now attached to the Relay Pin 85 and the ground is attached to pin 86, and the battery wiring is waiting for a new Fuse Holder, then that will be attached also.

The Relay works, it clicks, so the first half of the circuit is done.

Funny thing... have you ever decided to do I wiring job, wanted to get it done ASAP, took a trip to the Automotive Parts Store,  (30 minutes away) just to find that there is only one of what you want hanging on the rack.

I went to two other local Store in that same area and WHAM-BAM... one of each; oh we can order... so they say, but I want it now !

One 12V 30 amp four pin relay, one Relay Socket, one fuse holder, am I missing something, I want four of each; do these store want to sell things ?

We have them on line, AND we offer free delivery to the store... WTF !

If I want to oder the parts and wait, I wouldn't be ordering from a  store that stocks China Made EVERYTHING !

OK, I'm done... but just pure bullsh!t !

Thanks, I usually use a company called "SuperBrightLEDs.com" for all of my 12 volt wiring needs along with their great selection of LEDs.

I go local ONLY for the item I need now but that is a thing of the past, plan, plan, plan, is the name of the game now.

That is what I do, if I have an emergency & need an item NOW I go to a parts store. Other then that instance I will plan & order from Rockauto, they are at least 1/2 the price of the parts stores.

Just looked on Rock-Auto... not sure if I went to the right location but I can't find a universal 4-pin relay.
Rock-Auto keeps asking for my vehicle ID and then I get relays for it only; should be easier.

I looked again on Amazon, China stuff, but usually when there is a 4.5 or 5 star review average... their parts aren't too bad.
They have an 8 Relay Waterproof Package,  4-Pins,  4.8 star review average, Relays and Sockets for $30, less than $4/ea., FREE Delivery, sounds almost too good to be true.
May order just to see what they are like; might end up with some decent relays.

I bought this back in November 2019 for a project on my truck.  They are still working flawlessly.

5-pack of 5-pin relays and sockets

These are 5-pin but will work using only a 4-pin configuration.  Note that they have mounting tabs.  Makes it easy to install.

Just occurred to me, I bought these to do my projector headlights/DRLs/halos.

I have those in my Wish List, along with a similar waterproof units.
The Waterproof Relays are 8 for $30 and the ones you posted are 5 for $13.
$2.50/each or $3.75/each

How did the ones you used work out ?

How long have you had them ?

Any problems ?

I used these (2 of them) right behind the header panel on each side to control DRL to headlamp.  DRL comes on when key goes hot.  If it is dark enough, the auto headlamps will activate.  The relays transition the DRLs OFF and the headlamps ON.  I bought these in November 2019 and by Thanksgiving, I had them installed.  They are not weather proof, but I have had no issues with them.  I did buy some dielectric grease to put in them for weather protection, but I have yet to get that done (too much medical drama in my household at the moment).  So, going on two years in service now without any issues... yeah, I am happy with them.

The headlights are in and working... high/low beams.
Grille Lights are in and wired for DRLs.
The Halos on the Projector headlights are wired to the DRL Circuit and working with the Grille Lights.
By making the Halos Amber I can't use the Switchback function, the stay amber all the time.   When I hook them up for white they don't match the Grille LIghts.
Looks like I will have standard directional bulbs for now, I still have the SideMarkers modified to Directional/Markers.
Horns replaced and wired but they don't sound like I thought they would, they're lmost tinny sounding, I'm thinking they may be too close to the Air Tunnel in front of the radiator.
All I need to do now is secure the grille and install the Grille Shell.
Mirrors coming up next... maybe in the next week or so !

On to the Mirrors !

1) Add LED Marker lights for directionals.

2) Add Puddle Lights from VLED.  (?)

3) Add mount for a Blind Spot Mirror on the Driver's side.  Saw some nice units but they were on a Mercedes Van, they do bolt on but the driver didn't want to sell them... LoL !
Now wondering where there is a Mercedes Junk Yard in SoCal.

I'm sure there's a Mercedes dealership close by that would be glad to sell you a pair!

Now that we are settled here in Virginia we went to DMV & got our drivers licenses, new plates, & registrations. So I stopped on the way home from work to have it inspected & it passed. Installed the new plates when I got home.

Was not completely sure, I had to fix an exhaust leak before I went. Virginia checks a whole list of things one being the parking brake that I have not used since I bought the truck.

I imagine there are a lot of things that are different between NJ and Virginia.  I assume you are acclimating well to your new home state??

We are acclimating to the new state very well. It is a lot less expensive to live  down here, talking to the people here takes a little getting used to with their accent.
