Quite a bit hotter but if anything ambient temperature even in direct sunlight is far less than engine temps even on stock vehicles with cast manifolds. Which drives me kinda crazy when i see people with a nice truck or car raging on their in 118* weather here in the summer, just abusing a vehicle.
people rarely understand the stresses an engine have on it and then when we wonder why goes wrong or breaks.. just saying.
How hot does a engine exhaust get? F.L.I.R. visual
Stock Fiero GT N/A -34* weather - Skip to to 1:25;
Bolt-on modded Nissan Skyline upgraded turbo with Stock manifold still;
Modded Rotary N/A [if the exhaust is that hot imagine the rest of it closer to the head;
Bolt-on modded N/A Honda Civic 1.5l
Wheeling truck that gets stuck N/A V8;
And I'm not clear on your geo-location but I'd be willing to bet with good chances you live in a four season State. Both the white and black vehicles i mentioned above were when I lived in Detroit. White vehicle unmodded full size Ford conversion Van 5.0L V8, second vehicle (black) Heavily modified 95' Ford Escort 1.9L inline 4cyl w/full internals, full 4-1 race header, SS 60mm straight pipe back out Dynomax Ultraflow can, NO emissions control devices - not even EGR. So both ends of the spectrum same issue only common link was the heat buffer that was between. Even the engine position and sizes totally different.
I know it sounds like I'm going above and beyond to change your mind, I'm not really so much as I am sharing information to prove a point thats theres more going on than you think. And then to up the anty, add to it high temperature areas like the real desert conditions of Vegas, Phoenix, Texas in some parts, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona altogether.
Its the reasons why I upped the cooling system and its potential to eliminate failure points or at least raise them enough they're of littler concern. Next is the oil cooling and delivery system and a total reworking of the exhaust in itself as well.
Like I said, just pointing out some things many don't think about or dismiss altogether so they may be able to make a better informed decision or mods at a later date.
