I swear I'm searching first and either no one else has asked the same questions as me (doubtful ) or I'm not searching correctly (probable lol :squint:) so I apologize for all the new guy questions. Divers side seat belt on my truck (2001 single cab) needs to be replaced, doesn't retract. I was at the salvage yard this past weekend (scored a mint rear bumper and a trailer hitch :D) and there was a 2003 Edge extended cab? The style where the rear doors open, anyway, it had it's seat belts still and they were both good, but the mounting was obviously different. Will this style work in my single cab despite the different ways they're mounted? Or do I need to stick to single cab versions? Thanks

Stick w the single cab versions
Also whatever belt you get you need to get the receiver also, as the buckle changes year to year and you may not be able to plug a 03 belt into your 01 seat
Sometimes you can modify the buckle slightly with a grinder to make it work, but if you get both matching parts that will not be needed.

The mounting bracket needs to match your truck for two reasons:
1. safety, it needs to attach to the same bolt in the same spot so it will hold in accident
2. Length, lets say the extended cab belt bracket is 8" off the floor and your single cab is 2 off the floor...YOu may find the lack of about 6" of material leaving you with a belt waaaay tooo short to fit you in the seat (Ask me how I know)

Keep the new guy questions coming. As time goes by old information needs to be updated. This being a newer forum, having the resources here will help the next guy. It also keeps things fresh in our minds when we reply. Eventually you will be the resource for the new new guys. We are all pretty passionate about our rangers and I doubt anyone here resents having the answers you seek

Thanks, good points I didn't think about. And thanks for not roasting me with all the questions lol. The VW forum I frequent guys get quickly flamed for not searching, but that forum has been around for 10+ years so 99% of the information is there aside from new models as they come out. Didn't realize this was a fairly new forum so I hope my questions and answers provided help future members.

There will be no flaming tolerated here unless it is in retaliation to flames thrown LOL.

Of course we encourage searching but the mods have been here since the beginning and should be able to quickly provide links to common articles. We will have a tech article section also, I'm going to work on it during the winter. We have some great info already from perspectives that are in addition to anything I have ever read. Future will be bright.
