Well, I should have probably made one of these from day one to A. document my progress, and B. help any future (or current) members with anything I do. Better late then never I guess lol. I appreciate so far the answers to my questions I have had. I bought this Ranger a few weeks ago, Oct 19th to be exact. Found it on Craigslist, an older gentleman was selling it as it was his wife's vehicle who had passed the year prior. Its a 2001 XLT single cab 2.3L 5spd 2wd step side. I got it with just under 151K miles on it and he had just had some work done, new shocks and tie rods spark plugs and wires and a fresh oil change. Runs solid
Exterior wise wasn't bad. Normal dings and scratches for a vehicle of this age, they obviously never waxed the vehicle as there was no beading whatsoever and there was a lot of contamination in the paint and the bed had A LOT of paint over spray on the sides, like it was used as a spray booth . So the first weekend I detailed the exterior. Washed it, then clay bar, then wash again, then used a product from https://kleenfreaksamerica.bigcartel.com/product/rinse-seal as added protection. I then polished and waxed it. Also removed the pin stripes, the lower clear protection film from the lower rocker area as they were rotted and not clear anymore lol. Also removed the dealer sticker from the tailgate. I only had time for the drivers side so I still have to tackle the p/s soon.

Current pic 11/14/2018 dirty, needs a bath, had some snow Monday. The tint was old and scratched up so I removed it all and got the fish bowl going now lol. I'll eventually get new tint done, but it's not very high on the list right now.

Pin stripes and "protection film" still visible on this side

Now some of the major exterior issues are both bumpers are bent and the tailgate is damaged. I did score a mint rear bumper and a hitch at the salvage yard last weekend and I will be installing them this weekend hopefully. I will be ordering a new front bumper with fog light valance as I want to add fog light and I'm ordering Buggman's fog harness as well.

I do not like the drop in bedliner so that will come out and I will do a spray in eventually after I tackle the other important things. Also the spare tire hoist wire has been cut, which is why the spare is in the bed , but I managed to get another one from the salvage yard and will attempt to install it this weekend along with the rear bumper and hitch.

Interior is completely different story . The previous owners smoked (I don't) and it's very hard to cover up the smell. So this is where most of the initial work will be done. Seats are all tore up and dirty as well as the door panels and lower kick panels.

Drivers side seat belt doesn't retract, cluster has some lights out (gonna get some LED's from Buggman) and is dirty inside. I just noticed some of the vent slates are broken so more trips to the salvage yard lol. I scored some "poverty" door panels (another members term lol) last weekend and kick panels that are in better shape, just need some cleaning and possibly painting. My first trip to the salvage yard I scored some "better" seats out of an Edge, they're dirty, but we have a detail dept here at work that can shampoo them.

My plan is to mod the seat where you cut that "bench" section off the drivers side to make a 40/40 split and install an Explorer center console I scored as well. Some idiot was trying to remove the seats before me and didn't have the proper tools I guess as the brackets on both seats are cut so I am gonna have to swap the brackets from my seats over, I read it's possible just haven't looked into it yet. I also plan to replace the carpet and have the headliner and back cover reupholstered, probably in suede...why not lol. I also snagged a Mustang dome light so that will go in as well with LED's. So far that's it, I will add more content as I get things done though. Any suggestions or helpful hacks is much appreciated.
