I think Jamman used a strip LED in his?

Curious, what kind of lights are the indicators? i thought they weren't really changeable?

Not sure if i should change out my blue LED's for the fuel/temp/etc gauges for whites like the rest - i'll have part of the dash off for the headlight switch.

The indicator lights use a small 74 bulb:

These are what I used when I swapped everything. Entirely too bright though...lol

https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/instrument-cluster-gauge/74-led-bulb-1-smd-led-miniature-wedge-retrofit-car/227/

I have white/red/yellow, and blue from what I remember back years ago. I just have to find them, if I find them do you want them?

Kealel on this forum did a LED strip also on his.

I found the ghost glow thing also on door ajar and ABS at least, I wish we could come up with a complete list we would have a good article on which bulbs not to replace.

I might buy a set of your second LED's to see if they are brighter than mine but the 20SMD daylights I am using are awesome.

Ahh yes, those dang type 74's.... My HVAC is those, and i hate it :( Don't want to buy those, not even entirely sure why, principle i think? :P

To fix ghosting, ground the part that ghosts, just add an extra wire in there to the frame, or something connected to it.

I dunno if that would work. Some of those lights are broken ground instead of broken hot. I found this out researching the tester which I have all but given up on seems I can't get any time on the mill to cut the board pattern. Too busy replacing servers lately LOL

Yes I used dunno intentionally. I use it so often my spell checker doesn't even squiggly line it any more.

I was thinking a resistor, like a CAN bus type which I don't think they make in that size. The circuit is expecting resistance and I know which 2 wires go to it. Hmmmm.

Yeah resistor would work as well, probably more reliable if it's mixed broken ground/hot.

Summoning Anthony, This is a copy from a post you did on the forscan forum:

"Using a signal generator, based on the 8000 pulses per mile (around 2.22 Hz per MPH) I generated a 133.33 Hz signal to the output wire of my GEM and received a 60 MPH reading on my speedometer and the VSS PID showed 60 in forscan. So I can confirm that the information for my truck is true. 2000 2WD uses GEM for corrected speed output."

I have a question please, did you connect it to the wire while still plugged in to the GEM (just spliced in to the wire) or did you cut the wire and send it as if the GEM was sending it.

Thanks-

I have a cluster question. Can anyone tell me how to change the mileage on a digital cluster? I changed my cluster a few years ago and would like to put the original mileage on my current cluster

Thanks, the only part I didn't soak in was the definition of "connection points" it doesn't seem obvious where that is.

Jim, I think what he means by the definition of "connection points" is where the gauge overlays are attached/glued to the gauge face. If you remove the gauge needles & then try to remove the gauge overlays you will see they are attached to the gauge faces in a few spots only, not to the whole gauge face.

I just tried this and it does indeed jump to about 73 MPH just like he said. Clearly "close enough" for most of us.
