I took the passenger seat out of the truck I recently took to the scrap yard... for the rails. It was filthy, looked like it had soup spilled on it, a dog sat in it frequently and it was smoked in constantly but the rails were good.

I pulled the cover off the back, and got curious as to "how would one clean this". I brought it inside, wife wouldn't let me put it in the washer or dishwasher LOL so we batted around ideas on what would clean it the best.

Decided on laundry detergent.

It was an experiment, the thing was scrap anyway so I took a spray bottle, put about a quarter cup of "All" free and clear and some hot water, like a 6 or 7 to 1 ratio.

I sprayed it down, let it sit for 15 minutes then took the power washer to it. It came 100% clean. ?

So I removed the bottom seat cover which was worse than the back cover. Soaked it with the special mix, let it sit and sprayed it off with the power washer. Mind you this seat had some rust and oil stains too.

It looks 100% clean. The first one is completely dry today and looks amazing, even smells great kinda has that new car smell since the detergent we use at home has no dyes or perfumes. My wife is allergic to everything so we have to use this type.

Simply amazing the small amount of effort that went into this VS the size of the reward. I really didn't know the covers were that easy to remove though I did have the seat "apart" due to removing the rails, still that only took a few minutes.

I can take an after shot but should have taken a before shot... I didn't because I gave it a very small chance of working half as well a it did.
