If using the 97 PCM the pats light should not do anything. I have wiring diagrams for 2000 but I'm almost sure the anti theft signal for the ONLY LED from the factory in the cluster (I smoked one with 12V during my cluster mod adventures) comes from the PCM.
I'm thinking maybe the PCM might accidentally be the one for the 2000? They do all pretty much look the same OR...
Perhaps if you didn't start with a complete swap donor the person who sold you the engine/PCM combo might have given you the wrong PCM. Like I said they look the same, I write on mine the minute I remove them as to not get them confused. Now I have a pile in my garage no idea what to do with them but I know what they came from.
