finished the updates on this truck, calibrated the dakota box and everything is working perfectly!
My math was off, duh.....we are running larger tires so the speedo runs SLOW not fast, the dakota signal needed to be set to 1.12 cal value not 0.92.........now speedo is dead accurate
Easy enough to adjust while driving....gps tested, you can watch the speedometer change positions as you drive...pretty cool! Very happy with these interfaces.
I am going to use them to fix the speedo in our FJ cruiser and Excursion.....

Pics of the final install

Also changed out the flasher relay to a LED compatible one...this solved a strange hyperflash issue we had with the 2006 tail lights.... when you hit the brakes with turn signal on it would hyperflash.... not anymore

Dakota box was secured with zip ties next to gem module.

Harsh 1-2 shift:
4r70w had a broken accumulator spring, this is good news! Why is it good news? Because the 1-2 shift was way too harsh, remember this is a custom valve body with updates....but it should not shift that hard.
So I was ready to change the separator plate and valve body gaskets but before you do that with a 4r70w experiencing a harsh 1-2 shift ALWAYS check for a broken spring in the 1-2 accumulator.

New spring installed, new filter, 6 quarts of mercon V and BANG back on the road...now the 1-2 shift is a little more firm then stock, but no slam! FIXED!

Leaky rear output shaft seal, rear d shaft was leaving some ATF on the driveway.
New seal in the tailhousing of the 4406 t case  solved that leak

Ranger back on the road, owner happy happy...we bartered services, here so repairs done for no charge............battle on
