Jim, it should not be a struggle to do. Just measure the length of the step up section of the repair flange & cut that much off of the cat conv pipe, give the pipe a light sand to clean up any burrs from cutting the pipe, slip on the flange, bolt it up & put a clamp on the repair flange around the cat conv pipe. Easy peasy.
