Back in the day the bonzi burnouts of Mustangs was because of true duel exhaust. The revs had to to be high to get the low E.T. times because there was no low end performance. Tri-Y headers with open pipes worked best at WOT and RPMs above 4500. It was a time before back-pressure was understood.
