I'll already have the dash partially disassembled extracting the cluster I seem to be a collector of and the bezel I am collecting also. My garage will be full of clusters and bezels. Never know when you might need one LOL.

So while me and the wife were at rural king in the explorer as I was parking by another explorer with same size wheels and tires as mine I noticed the other expo sat a little higher in the front then mine. I talked to the ownerhe said he has never cranked the t-bars. Now my question is do the v8 explorers sit lower in the front due to the added weight of the 302 compared to the 4.0? Could my t-bars be weak causing it sag? Or could it be low cause its AWD? After seeing it I would rather have mine sitting like a 4x4 and not a 2wd

There are 3 different t bar "spring rates" the V8's have the stiffest bars. 96-97 have no isolator pad between the frame rail and the t bar (noisy) the 98+ has a green pad to isolate noise

The weight difference between a sohc and v8 is not much, maybe 150# for the whole drivetrain

A full tank of fuel and the size of the driver can effect how they sit
Age and miles, plus use after that (one that sees bumpy dirt roads springs will soften faster then a highway queen)

First adjust your tire pressure
Then get 1/2 tank of fuel or so
Now with a tape measure and some masking tape put some tape on your fender lip and measure from the ground up at the center of the hubs. Record each corner measurements
I bet you find your front end is at least 1/2" different side to side
Use the t bar bolts (13mm) to level the truck
Drive it, check the measurements and adjust until happy

Now after this you may need a full alignment, I do it with an angle gauge, tape measure, 4 jack stands and some string adjust camber and toe (youtube string alignment)

Not one built/flipped truck leaves my shop without getting leveled
Explorers are all over the map, there is no ryhme or reason to it, they all sag differently. I can usually spot one of my (serviced at my shop) trucks on the road because they sit up properly

If your t bars are shot it you will max out the drivers side bolt and still need adjustment

Rear leaf spring sag will really effect the front end height also
I like a level truck, meaning a level sits on the running board and reads level

The back sits fine but the front is low. I'll try cranking the t-bars and get back to you.

That's another thing I have never heard of or experienced, torsion bars going bad. Coming loose/snapping yes but losing their "springability"?

What are the statistics on this.

It seems it would take a lot of abuse to take the spring out of a tbar

So if anyone asks you to put an aftermarket headunit in an older explorer with the Ford/JBL premium sound system kindly tell them *uck off... After I run new speaker wires to each door to eliminate the factory amp and sub I will have this damn thing done. Never again will I do this. But I'm sure the wife will like her new double din touch screen if and when I get it hooked up....

I simply tapped into the factory speaker wires at the factory amp in my old 96, it was not that difficult no need to run wires

When you crank a torsion bar bolt and it does nothing to adjust the height of the truck, the spring is "gone or soft" in that torsion bar
Explorers are the worst, especially the sports they have the softer t bars (A code I think) and when they get up there in miles the front ends sag and no amount of bolt turning will do anything to raise it back up.
New lower mile V8 t bars will fix that........

Take a look at all the 95-01 explorers in your town, you can see the ones with sagging front springs (t bars) the camber is jacked and they sit like 2" low in the front end.... just like negative arch in the rear springs, t bars get soft too

I ran all new speaker wires since I have to run the wiring for my amp and sub and I swapped out the door speakers for a set of Memphis Audio speakers. Never again will I do this. This has been a real bitch
