Hello All,

I was reading about Rangers on line and found a posting about Emission Laws and whether they are needed or not !
The main topic was , new vehicles are so emission efficient, that testing shouldn't be required, and the money saved could be put into other things, i.e. new vehicles.
There was a list of 4 or 5 states that either are letting go of the emission laws or will be in the future; me for one can't wait !

Come on California... NOT, I think the state is making too much off of emission testing, so I don't think CA will let go for a long time, if ever !

Just looking for anyone that wants to comment and/or someone that knows for sure !

Do we know any Congressman that drive Rangers... LoL !

You beat me to it. Lol. I was going to make a thread.

Washington state is shutting down the emission program in 2020. The reason for this is because our air quality has improved. The cars being built are cleaner and it's not necessary to check, they will focus on vehicles at the the factory.

My question is, if you're swapping in a V8 in a V6 ranger do you still need the ref?

Here in CO they have been using more and more road side testing with mobile van test stations. Drive by 2 in the year before your plates are due and you are good. Nice system

It will be interesting to see if Cali and NY eventually join the USA in general.

I've heard Alaska is near doing it, understandable less vehicles, less emissions.

California IS my concern, I'll probably be dead before the emission laws go away.

A Roadside Check is not good either, maybe the States will go back to a Safety Check Inspection to make their money !

I would think if you make the conversions and get it checked for emissions by yourself, then you should pass.

As I always say, "If you pass the emissions levels for your year vehicle what difference does it make what motor you have" !

Hoping but not expecting !

Washington already doesn't test anything newer than 2009 and i've been told the testing is completely gone in 2019.  Which is great because my lightning needs plates next year and no  ing way is it passing anything

Washington emissions testing will be gone by 1/1/2020. I had to e-test my Jeep last month and they had flyers about it ending at the station I went to.

Wonder if any of the AOC agenda is going to negatively impact this "forward" move.
